The Standard Schnauzer is the original Schnauzer, progenitor of the Miniature and Giant Schnauzer. The breed was originally created during the Middle Ages by German farmers who were looking to breed a versatile farm dog. Like the world’s other barn-and-stable breeds, the Standard Schnauzers became renowned as ratters, herders, guardians, and hunters.
History
The Standard Schnauzer’s all-around friendliness is moderate, but this puppy is certainly affectionate towards its family and any children. Its deep instinctual roots as a guard dog and can be pretty vocal. This Standard Schnauzer is playful, intelligent, strong willed and very independent.
