Pomeranian

Origin:

The Pomeranian’s larger ancestors were used as sheep herders and sled dogs. Once they arrived to Europe, they were bred down to its current small size. Aside from the herding and sledding duties, Pomeranians have been used as search and rescue dogs for small, tight spaces, hearing assistance, and therapy dogs.

History

The Pomeranian is a compact, short-backed, active toy dog. It has a soft, dense undercoat with a profuse harsh-textured outer coat. Its heavily plumed tail is set high and lies flat on its back. It is alert in character, exhibits intelligence in expression, is buoyant in deportment, and is inquisitive by nature. The Pomeranian is cocky, commanding, and animated as it gaits. It is sound in composition and action.
